Philippines votes for new President

Millions of Philipinos have begun voting to choose a new President.

According to the Elections Commissioner, George Garcia, polls opened across the SouthEast Asian Nation on Monday with 67 million people registered to cast their ballots.

Garcia described Monday’s vote as the most significant election in recent Philippine history as the outcome could result in either democratic backsliding or in liberal reforms.

Former lawmaker Nzeribe is dead

Former Senator, Arthur Nzeribe has passed on. Confirming his death, a family member disclosed that Nzeribe died on Sunday morning from an undisclosed ailment at a foreign hospital. The former lawmaker who represented Imo West district in the upper Chamber of the National Assembly died at the age of 83.
