Guinea’s coup leader proposes 3-year transition to civilian rule

Ruling Generals in Guinea say a transition back to civilian rule will probably take more than three years.

Head of the Military government, Mamady Doumbouya, who took power in September, said that after political consultations he has proposed a timeline transition of 39 months.

Recalled, the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS had set last Monday as a deadline for Guinea to put forward an acceptable transition timetable or risk economic and financial sanctions.
