Russia Urges Ukraine to Give up Resistance in Mariupol

Russia has urged Ukrainian forces to give up their resistance on the besieged port city of Mariupol.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Russian Defence Ministry on Tuesday.

The statement made no direct mention of a new ground offensive in Eastern Ukraine.

This came after Ukrainian President; Volodymyr Zelensky announced the start of a new offensive by Moscow.

Oyetola Directs Appointees with Political Ambition to Resign

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has directed all Political Appointees contesting the 2023 general election to resign their appointments. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Oluwole Oyebamiji. The statement noted that the concerned appointees must comply with the instruction with immediate effect. It added that the directive is line with Sections 84 (12) and 29(1) of the Electoral Acts 2022.
