Trump appoints secretary of state

US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Marco Rubio to serve as secretary of state in his incoming administration.

Trump made this known in a statement on his official X handle on Wednesday.

According to him, Marco is a Highly Respected Leader, and a very powerful Voice for Freedom which will make him a strong Advocate for the Nation, a true friend to Allies, and a fearless Warrior who will never back down to adversaries.

Rubio was Trump’s rival in the 2016 elections and was previously being considered to serve as Trump’s vice president in the just concluded 2024 election.
