19 of 38 directors fail Permanent Secretary qualifying exam

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation has announced that 19 of the 38 eligible directors who participated in the first stage of the assessment for new Permanent Secretaries on Monday did not pass as 19 directors succeeded in this initial written exam and will advance to the second stage on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 which will evaluate their ICT proficiency in handling government operations.

According to Eno Olotu, Head of Information and Public Relations, this three-stage process is designed to maintain transparency and rigor, ensuring only the most qualified candidates are selected while those who pass the second stage will face a panel of senior bureaucrats and private sector representatives on Friday for the final assessment.

The President will ultimately select from the top candidates representing Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Rivers states, where there are current vacancies as the Head of the Civil Service commends the candidates and appreciates the public’s support in promoting merit-based progress within the Civil Service.
