The Imo State Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma on Friday has launched an investigation into Silas Nwamadi, Medical Director of Goodwill Maternity in Obinze, Owerri West.

Nwamadi allegedly detained twin boys, Chidindu and Chijindu, born at his facility on May 4, after their parents could not pay the delivery bill.

The Commissioner ordered the immediate release of the twins, denouncing the doctor’s claim that his demand for the babies in exchange for the unpaid bill was a joke.

The case came to light after the children’s grandmother petitioned the police, supported by activist Chidiebube Okeoma and other concerned Nigerians.
