Obi calls on government to provide sources of livelihood for citizens

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has urged government officials at all levels to provide sustainable livelihoods for citizens to prevent tragedies like the recent tanker explosion in Jigawa State.

In a post on his X account on Tuesday, Obi described the explosion, which claimed over 180 lives and left more than 80 people hospitalized, as a national tragedy.

He pledged to donate funds to support the victims and expressed his condolences to Governor Namadi and the people of Jigawa.

Obi highlighted the increasing frequency of such incidents, calling for urgent prayers for divine intervention and stressing the need for governments and stakeholders to implement infrastructure and laws to prevent future occurrences.
