The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, has recounted his experience during his recent detention by the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies.

According to Ajaero, he was interrogated by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Police, which arrived while he was being questioned by the DSS, as he noted that the IRT operatives asked him the same questions posed during a previous meeting on August 29, 2024.

Additionally, Ajaero addressed inquiries regarding the relationship between the Labour Party and the NLC, to which he clarified that while the NLC is a trustee of the Labour Party, it does not run the party, which was established during Adams Oshiomhole’s presidency of the NLC.

Furthermore, Ajaero expressed his frustration regarding security agents revisiting a previously resolved issue with Air Peace from last year.

He characterized the actions of the security forces as both embarrassing and intimidating, indicating that they appeared to be actively searching for reasons to implicate him and other labor leaders.
