US, UK, Canada Issue Security Alerts To Citizens In Nigeria

The United States, United Kingdom, and Canada have issued security alerts to their citizens in Nigeria, warning of potential violence during the planned nationwide protests against hunger and hardship, slated to start on August 1, 2024.
The advisories in Abuja and Lagos State, on Monday,from the three countries caution their citizens to avoid areas where confrontations between security agencies and protesters might occur.
They highlight potential issues such as roadblocks, checkpoints, traffic congestion, and physical confrontations while Citizens are advised to stay informed via local media, avoid large crowds, and follow instructions from local authorities.
The advisories note that past protests have turned violent with little warning and that disruptions in traffic and public transportation are likely.
