Aggrieved youths from the Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State yesterday stormed the Government House in their hundreds to protest the alleged planned manipulation of the upcoming chairmanship election by some of the leaders.
The protesters in a peaceful demonstration accused a former Minister of Education (State), who hails from the area, and the current Sole Administrator of the Local Government Area of trying to manipulate the chairmanship in the Awarra Court area.
The spokesperson of the group, Lucky Onyiri, told newsmen that the people of Awarra Court Area are sick of the alleged persons’ undue interference in their activities.
According to him, the good people of Awarra Court Area are carrying out the mass protest because they allegedly know that the ex-minister has a plan to control the area due to his rich oil and gas deposits.
The protesters, therefore, appealed to Governor Hope Uzodimma to urgently intervene in the matter to stop alleged persons from unduly interfering in the election.
