The Imo State Chapter of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has moved to double export, economic growth and job creation in the society through its Export 35 Refined Program.
The NEPC state coordinator, Anthony Ajuruchi, disclosed the move to newsmen during a Quality improvement sensitization program organized for Imo stakeholders in the cashew value chain, in Owerri on Thursday.
Ajuruchi noted that the program was aimed at raising awareness on quality improvement in the cashew value chain.
A former National President of the council, Iroezindu Uzoechi, who was present at the event called on the government at all levels to show interest in cashew farming.
Also speaking at the program, the Chairman Imo State Chapter of Cashew Association of Nigeria, Simon Ezikeiheoma, highlighted the state’s opportunities to benefit from the cashew export business, but expressed concern over the lack of attention to cashew farming in the South East.
