Buhari Asks Senate to Confirm Resident Electoral Commissioners

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm 19 nominees as Resident Electoral Commissioners.

The confirmation request was contained in a letter read at plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

In the letter, President Buhari, noted that the request for the confirmation of the nominees was in accordance with the provisions of Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.

It added that five of the Resident Electoral Commissioners are for renewal, while the other fourteen are fresh appointments.
