34 Die in Bus Accident in Kenya

At least thirty-four people have died after their bus veered off a bridge and plunged into a river valley, in central Kenya.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Tharaka Nithi County, when the bus travelling from Meru to the Port City of Mombasa veered off the Nithi Bridge, and fell into the valley 131 feet below.

According to Tharaka Nithi Country Commissioner, Nobert Komora, the Country has lost 14 women, 18 men and two girls, bringing the total deaths to 34.

Kenya’s Transport Regulator, has ordered all buses belonging to Modern Coast to suspend operations pending an investigation into the crash.

NECO Urges State Governments to Clear Debts

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has said some State governments are owing it the sum of over N2 billion. NECO Registrar, Dantani Wushishi, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Minna, Niger State. According to Wushishi, the States were indebted to the Council from 2012 till date. The Registrar urged State governments to clear up its debts.
