Enugu govt begins legal action over physical abuse of FGC student

Enugu State government has vowed to prosecute individuals involved in the bullying and physical torture of a student of Federal Government College, Enugu.

Recall that a video clip revealing the dehumanization of a student in uniform at the Federal Government College, Enugu, has been attracting condemnation from Nigerians.

The now viral video emerged at the weekend showing a supposed junior student sprawling on the floor while some senior students repeatedly used their waist belt to flog him.

Reacting, the Enugu State Ministry of Education in a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Education, Ndubueze Mbah, vowed to ensure justice for the victim.

Mbah disclosed that the ministry has commenced investigation and legal actions regarding the deeply disturbing incident of bullying and physical abuse that recently occurred at the College.

According to him, the Enugu State government has zero tolerance for bullying and abuse in their schools, stressing that the safety and welfare of school children is paramount.
