The World Health Organization (WHO), Europe announced on Monday its plans to evacuate up to 1,000 women and children in need of urgent medical care from Gaza to European countries.

This development comes amidst accusations from UN investigators that Israel has been deliberately targeting health facilities in Gaza and endangering medical personnel, which they describe as “crimes against humanity.”

This initiative is part of a broader effort facilitated by the WHO and various European nations, following Israel’s commitment to transfer more patients in the coming months.

As part of the statement by WHO, Hans Kluge, WHO’s regional director, underscored the importance of maintaining open dialogue with all parties to ensure the provision of medical support in conflict zones.

Kluge emphasized that achieving peace is the ultimate solution, allowing healthcare workers to safely perform their duties in war-torn regions.

Recall that Rik Peeperkorn, the WHO’s representative in the Palestinian territories, previously reported that approximately 10,000 individuals require urgent medical evacuation from Gaza.
