Israel has rejected international calls for a ceasefire with Hezbollah and continues its airstrikes, which have resulted in over 700 deaths in Lebanon, at latest casualties include nine members of a family from Shebaa, four of whom were children.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly at 13:00 GMT, following Israel’s dismissal of a US-led proposal for a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has reaffirmed Washington’s support for Israel, as Tel Aviv secures a new $8.7 billion US military aid package.
Austin dismissed concerns over “red lines” in Israel’s ongoing operations in Gaza and Lebanon.
In Gaza, authorities have condemned Israel’s treatment of dead Palestinians, after 88 unidentifiable bodies were returned by Israeli officials.
The death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 41,500, with over 96,000 wounded, as a result of Israel’s ongoing military actions whereas in Israel, at least 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, with more than 200 people taken captive.
