The Federal Government has called on Nigerians to take advantage of various intervention programmes designed to ease the impact of recent policy changes, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Speaking in Umuahia on Tuesday during a sensitization programme, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized that while the subsidy removal was necessary, the government acknowledges the challenges it has created for Nigerians as he reassured the public that efforts are in place to cushion the effects of these changes.

The minister, represented by Gloria Abiakam, Head of the Federal Information Centre in Abia, highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ welfare, boosting economic growth, and creating job opportunities as these interventions include the Student Loan Scheme, Consumer Credit Corporation, Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, and the Digital and Creative Enterprises (DICE) programme.

Minister Idris urged state and local governments to ensure that information about these programmes is widely disseminated, encouraging citizens nationwide to take full advantage of the opportunities available.
