The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has provided 50 tons of humanitarian aid to support those affected by the recent floods in Nigeria, as confirmed by the federal government on Sunday.

Ambassador of the UAE to Nigeria, Salem Alshamsi, speaking at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, noted that this relief effort, initiated by UAE President, Mohamed Al Nahyan, highlights the UAE’s ongoing commitment to assisting countries impacted by natural disasters.

Top officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser received the aid items on behalf of the flood victims.

The NEMA Director-General, Zubaida Umar, expressed gratitude for the UAE’s generous gesture, stating that the multimillion-dollar relief materials would complement the Federal Government’s efforts to support and assist flood victims in their recovery from the disaster.

Ahmed Dunoma, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also expressed gratitude on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging the strong ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
