The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students has debunked claims that it is planning a nationwide shutdown of major cities in the country.
In a statement by the association’s Senate President, Akinteye Babatunde, on Tuesday, NANS said it did not announce nor endorse any such protest, describing the claims as baseless and non reflective of the position or intentions of its organisation.
NANS added that rather than disrupting the peace of the nation, it is committed to peaceful advocacy and constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders.
It therefore urged the public to disregard the claims, noting that those behind the claims are faceless.
