Immigration suspends officer over drug charges

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended Akomolafe Michael, an officer stationed at Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, over multiple charges of alleged drug trafficking.
This suspension follows internal processes and allegations made in May 2024.
The NIS, through its spokesman DCI Kenneth Udo, on Wednesday in Abuja,stated that the officer is currently being arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The NIS has expressed its support for the court proceedings and emphasized its commitment to discipline and zero tolerance for criminality among its personnel.
