Rivers Governor Denies Approving ₦80,000 As Minimum Wage

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has denied reports on social media that his administration will pay ₦80,000 as minimum wage to workers in the state and local government areas.
Governor Fubara made this clarification through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, today.
The statement said, the attention of the Rivers State Government has been drawn to claims circulating in an online media that the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara,, has proposed to pay a new minimum wage of ₦80,000 for civil servants in the State and local government areas.
The general public and particularly civil servants in the state, are advised to discountenance the false claims in the online media platform as the Rivers State Government will make its position on the issue known in due course.
