Labour Leaders In Closed Session With Tinubu Over Minimum Wage

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), led other labour leaders in a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Thursday.
The meeting at the Presidential Villa, facilitated by Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, follows the President’s announcement of broad consultations regarding the minimum wage debate.
The Tripartite Committee on the Minimum Wage previously failed to reach an agreement, with the federal government, state governments, and the organized private sector proposing N62,000, while labour demands N250,000.
Labour leaders appealed for a living wage due to current economic challenges which a new minimum wage decision is anticipated following this meeting.
