Abia to pay salary arrears in tranches

The Abia State Government has announced plans to pay the salary arrears owed to state civil service workers in installments.
During a press conference in Umuahia, Finance Commissioner Mike Akpara revealed that the current administration is committed to resolving the issue of unpaid salaries, stating that “a worker deserves his wages.”
The administration inherited a debt of ₦16.5 billion in salary arrears owed to employees of state-owned educational institutions, including Abia State University (ABSU), College of Education in Arochukwu, College of Health Sciences, Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, and Abia State University Teaching Hospital. The government has already paid the salary arrears for April and May for workers at ABSU.
