The Nigerian Air Force has conducted successful airstrikes, destroying two illegal crude oil refining sites near Obiaku, close to the Imo/Abia/Rivers States.
These airstrikes come two days after the Chief of Air Staff, Hasan Abubakar, announced plans to extend the deployment of air power in response to security imperatives in Abia State and the South-east region during a visit to Governor Alex Otti.
During his meeting with Governor Otti, Abubakar requested the Abia State government to provide a parcel of land for the establishment of a Nigerian Air Force Base in the state.
The Nigerian Air Force also emphasized that the successful destruction of these illegal refining sites underscores the necessity of establishing a base in Abia State, and reiterated its commitment to maintaining aerial dominance over Nigerian skies to ensure the safety and security.
