Nationwide Blackout as Labour Unions Shut Down Electricity Grid

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has confirmed that the nationwide blackout being experienced is due to the Organized Labour shutting down the national electricity grid.
This occurred around 2:19am on Monday as part of the indefinite strike action by the unions.
According to Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, the striking workers under the National Union of Electricity Employees deliberately shut down the national grid.
TCN has stated that efforts are ongoing to recover and stabilize the national grid in order to restore bulk transmission of electricity to distribution load centers across the country.
Recall, the Labour Unions commenced an indefinite strike, today, June 3rd over the government’s failure to implement a new minimum wage and reverse the recent 240% electricity tariff hike.
