Two Nigerians Emerge Winner at the African Youth Scrabble Championship

Two Nigerians, David Ojih and Prestige Archibong, have emerged as champions in the U-19 and U-15 categories, respectively, at the Winifred Awosika African Youth Scrabble Championship.

The championship which took place at Chrislands School, Lekki, Lagos, featured participants from five African countries Kenya, Liberia, Ghana, Uganda, and the host country, Nigeria.

David, who emerged victorious in 19 games and suffered five losses secured the U-19 championship title after engaging in four days of intense mind games encompassing 24 rounds.

While in the U-15 category, Prestige Archibong claimed the top honor by winning 16 games and achieving a cumulative score spread of plus 2614.

The winners were awarded a total of $9,000 in prize money, alongside valuable gifts including laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
