The Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy has arrested 27 vessels engaged in illegal bunkering and crude oil theft.
Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Ibrahim Dewu, said the arrests were made between the period he assumed office in February 2022 and when he left the command on April 11, 2023.
Dewu revealed that the Command also deactivated 294 illegal refinery sites.
The Officer added that the command also effectively patrolled its maritime area of responsibility and undertook several clearance and swamp buggy operations in the backwaters.
The Super Falcons will head into today’s international friendly with New Zealand looking to record their third successive win in 2023. The game will be the Falcons’ last Pre-World Cup friendly barring any last-minute arrangement before the Women’s World Cup billed to kick off from July 20 to August 20. The Falcons had defeated Haiti 2-1 last Friday, securing the team’s second straight win this year.
