INEC Postpones Governorship and Assembly Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed the governorship and state house of assembly elections scheduled for March 11.

INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education, Festus Okoye, announced the postponement in a statement.

According to the statement the elections will hold on Saturday, March 18.

The statement noted that this follows the ruling by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.

Passenger Train Crushes Lagos Government Staff Bus

Reports say a passenger train crushed a Lagos State Government staff bus at PWD area of the state. The spokesperson for the State Traffic Management Authority, Taofiq Adebayo, revealed that an unspecified number of people have been injured. Adebayo noted that rescue operation was ongoing, adding that the accident recorded many casualties as the bus is fully loaded with government staff going to office.
