European Union to Deploy Observation Mission Ahead of Elections

The European Union, EU, has decided to deploy an Election Observation Mission, EOM, to observe the general elections in Nigeria.

A statement issued by the Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, revealed that Barry Andrews, was named the Chief Observer for the EOM to Nigeria.

The statement noted that the Mission will provide a comprehensive, independent and impartial assessment of the electoral process based on international and regional standards for democratic elections.

It assured that the EU EOM will remain in the country until the completion of the electoral process.
