President Bola Tinubu has directed that all civil servants drawing salaries from the government after relocating abroad should be made to refund the money, and also that their supervisors and department heads be punished for enabling this fraud.
This announcement came during the award night for the 2024 Civil Service Week, where the President was represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Tinubu expressed his dismay at this situation, emphasizing that appropriate measures would be taken to ensure these individuals are punished and the money is returned to the government treasury.
The President also acknowledged the broader challenges facing the civil service sector and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing these issues to improve overall performance.
