The Abia State Government has identified unpatriotic politicians, allegedly working in collaboration with external parties, as the masterminds behind the recent surge in violence and criminal activities that have claimed the lives of both security personnel and civilians since May 2024.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti, Ferdinand Ekeoma, in a press release on Monday. the government warned that it would not succumb to blackmail or intimidation from any individual or group and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding peace in the state and protecting its citizens from acts of violence.

To counter these threats, the state has launched a robust counteroffensive aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within its borders. Citizens were urged to avoid harboring unfamiliar individuals to prevent becoming unwitting accomplices.

The government also called on Abians to collaborate with security agencies to eliminate criminal elements. Traditional rulers were specifically advised to report suspicious activities promptly to law enforcement authorities.
