A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi has criticized the recent hike in petrol prices by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) while calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and reverse the increase, warning that it will worsen the hardships already faced by Nigerians.

In a statement issue on Thursday, to Newman, Ajadi described the price hike as insensitive, especially given the tough economic conditions while stressing that many citizens were already struggling to afford fuel at the previous price, and the new increase would further escalate their suffering.

Ajadi also raised concerns that higher fuel costs would lead to increased transport fares and inflation in food prices, making life more difficult for the average Nigerian.
