The Nigerian Army has dismissed reports circulating in some online media claiming that troops were attacked and several soldiers and civilians were killed in Ehime Mbano, Imo State.

Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, Jonah Unuakhalu, on Thursday issued a statement in Enugu denying the incident to newsmen. He described the reports as baseless and the work of sympathizers.

Unuakhalu clarified that there was no attack or casualties involving troops or civilians, stating that the incident was fabricated to undermine the confidence of the people of Imo and the South-East region.

He confirmed that on October 3, some groups had set fire to the headquarters of Isiala Mbano LGA, and a similar attempt was made at Ehime Mbano LGA on October 8. However, troops successfully repelled the attackers, who were forced to retreat after suffering casualties.

The Army urged the public to disregard the false reports, reassuring citizens that troops remain committed to protecting the state and dealing with criminal elements.
