The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, (NIMET), has issued a weather forecast predicting thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Wednesday through Friday.

The agency’s outlook, released on Tuesday in Abuja, highlights thunderstorms expected across Northern Nigeria on Wednesday morning, with similar conditions continuing into the afternoon and evening.

For the South, NiMet predicts thunderstorms in Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom on Wednesday morning, with intermittent rains expected later in the day in states like Enugu, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

The stormy weather pattern continues into Thursday, as the southern cities could see showers throughout the day, with thunderstorms forecast for Imo, Ebonyi, and other areas.

NiMet is advising residents in flood-prone areas to take precautions, as strong winds accompanying the storms could lead to urban flooding, especially in major cities.
