The funeral for Ugandan Olympic, Rebecca Cheptegei, will take place on September 14 in her home country, according to organizers.

The annoucement was made by Beatrice Ayikoru, Secretary General of the Uganda Olympic Committee.

The 33-year-old marathon runner, who competed in the Paris Olympics last month, passed away on Thursday from severe burns sustained in a horrific attack by her boyfriend.

Recall that Cheptegei suffered burns to over 80% of her body after her boyfriend, Dickson Marangach, allegedly doused her with petrol and set her on fire.
In response, Paris has announced plans to honor her by naming a sports venue after the athlete.
