The Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday has announced the successful execution of an air interdiction mission by its fighter aircraft as part of Operation Hadin Kai.
The mission, conducted on August 16, 2024, in Arina, Southern Tumbuns, Borno State, resulted in the elimination of top terrorist commanders, including Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla, and several others.
Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, revealed that the strikes were a strategic effort to further weaken the activities of remaining terrorists in the Northeast, while also ensuring the protection of innocent civilians and military personnel.
Coordinated airstrikes were then launched, successfully targeting and neutralizing numerous terrorists, as well as destroying their equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary.
He noted that prior intelligence had indicated the movement of terrorists into the area from neighboring locations stating that the operation has significantly degraded the operational capacity of the remaining terrorists in the region.
