Police to Deploy Nationwide Drone Surveillance System

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced that the Nigeria Police Force will soon establish a comprehensive drone system to bolster its efforts in tackling the nation’s security challenges.
Speaking at a lecture organized by the University of Ibadan, Egbetokun stated that while the force already possesses drones, it will now develop a full-fledged drone system, operated from its headquarters in Abuja, capable of monitoring every corner of the country.
Egbetokun further revealed that the police force will establish a Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in all states to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of criminality.
He added that dedicated anti-kidnapping units have been set up across various states, focusing on intelligence gathering and rapid response to kidnapping incidents, resulting in successful rescue operations and arrests of perpetrators.
