The federal government will soon issue an executive order to regulate pharmaceutical prices and make essential medicines more affordable for citizens.
The Coordinating Minister of Health, Ali Pate, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
He stated that rising drug costs as a result of exodus of major multinational pharmaceutical companies have put life saving commodities out of reach for many Nigerians.
According to the minister, the executive order aims to enable local drug manufacturers to thrive, while ensuring fair pricing of essential medicines.
Pate added that the order reflects President Tinubu’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda to prioritise healthcare access.
